Now over 20 years into the job, it’s wise that Arsenal start to think about contingency plans for when Arsene Wenger decides to call it a day.
His future remains uncertain. It’s unknown whether Wenger will stay beyond the end of the season despite the club offering him a new two-year deal and should he leave, several managers are reportedly being lined up.
According to the Mirror, Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel tops a four-man shortlist of candidates to replace Wenger if he decides to leave Arsenal when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Tuchel replaced Jurgen Klopp when he resigned from the role in the summer of 2015 and has earned rave reviews for the job he’s done and there’s a feeling he could be persuaded to leave Dortmund for the Gunners.
Enquiries have reportedly been made into Tuchel’s availability at the end of the season.
Other names on the shortlist include Juventus’ Massimiliano Allegri, Monaco’s Leonardo Jardin and Bayer Leverkusen’s Rodger Schmidt.
