Arsenal fell to their second defeat in a week at the hands of league leaders Chelsea, who now have a 12-point gap on the Gunners.
An early Marcos Alonso goal, which saw Hector Bellerin forced off injured in the process, was added to by Eden Hazard’s impressive second-half solo effort.
Former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas then added insult to injury when he came off of the bench to capitalise on Petr Cech’s unforced error before Olivier Giroud claimed a consolation goal in added time.
The result all-but ends Arsenal’s title hopes for another season, in the same week that Chelsea’s gap could have been reduced to a mere three points, and the focus will now be on achieving their goals in the Champions League and FA Cup.
