With the January transfer window fast approaching, Arsene Wenger and the board will be looking at their squad and making decisions on any areas they may need to strengthen in.
Arsenal have had two bad results recently, losing 2-1 at Everton and Manchester City respectively and therefore have slid down the table – dropping to 4th place and nine points off the front-runners, Chelsea.
It’s clear that Arsenal need to strengthen in the January window if they want to mount a title challenge. They will need to splash the cash and show that they really mean business. Any additions could be key to an already strong squad and with Wenger coming under more pressure by the day, a big-name signing could get some of the fans back on his side.
Arsenal could probably do with another midfielder, a prolific striker and maybe a full-back. It will be tough for any team to catch Chelsea at this stage after their impressive 12 game win streak, but Arsenal are one of the few teams that are in with a chance if they just made a few minor tweaks and additions.
Without further ado, here are some players Arsenal should consider signing in January.
Lacazette is a name who will be familiar with the Arsenal faithful, after being linked in previous transfer windows. He possesses the ability to play on both wings and through the middle. He would be a great addition.
Schneiderlin has been linked to Arsenal in the past and would be a very good addition to the midfield. At the moment it looks like he could be set to reunite with former manager, Ronald Koeman, but if the Gunners came in with a late bid Schneiderlin could be tempted.
Tolisso would be an excellent addition. He has a wide range of passing and would provide extra, healthy competition in the midfield.
Gaya would be another impressive addition with Nacho Monreal soon to turn 31, ten years older than Gaya.
Sidibe is versatile, he can play left or right-back and would be a smart addition from Arsene Wenger.
Arsenal have apparently identified Reus as a possible Ozil or Sanchez replacement but there’s no reason why they can’t keep that duo and still add the German.
Bacca would be a very good option to have up top, Arsenal could do with a prolific striker like him.
