Pellegrini urges Sanchez to make China move

Former Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has urged Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez to snub a new contract and make a move to the Chinese Super League.

Sanchez’s contract expires at the end of next season and Arsenal are eager to tie him down to a new long-term contract with a £180,000-a-week deal currently on the table.

However, the former Barcelona attacker is reportedly holding out for a deal worth closer to £250,000-a-week and Pellegrini thinks he should snub the contract and move to the far east.

Speaking in the Mirror, Pellegrini, who is the manager of Chinese side Hebei China Fortune, stated that if Sanchez ever wanted to make the move to China then his side would be eager to sign him.

“If Alexis wants a club in China, we’ll roll out the red carpet.

“He has made his career, step-by-step, with intelligence, starting in South America but always in big clubs, like Colo Colo and River Plate.

“He played in Italy, in Spain, and now in England, which is the most powerful in the world. I think Alexis has moved forward the right way, always making progress.”

A number of high-profile players have moved to China in recent times due to the financial allure. Former Chelsea midfielder Ramires and former Southampton striker Graziano Pelle both moved over in 2016 while both Oscar and Cesc Fabregas have both been heavily linked with moves this week.
