Mesut Ozil looks set to sign a contract extension at Arsenal, one that will make him the highest paid player in the club’s history, as per a report from John Cross of The Mirror.
The German international is about to enter the final 18 months of his current deal and Arsenal do not want to end up in a situation where he is close to having his contract expire and as such, they’ve been talking with his representatives once again during the international break.

The 28-year-old has always been a top player but has stepped his game up to another level this year by finding the back of the net more regularly.
As such, Arsenal are willing to pay him £200,000-a-week in order to get him to commit his long-term future to the club, which means he’ll be getting a £60,000-a-week pay rise.
Alexis Sanchez could also follow Ozil in getting a new contract and it won’t be a huge surprise if he too ends up on a similar weekly wage.
