# West Ham considering move to re-sign Carl Jenkinson

West Ham are believed to be keeping tabs on Carl Jenkinson’s situation at Arsenal with a view to re-signing the defender in the near future, according to the [Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/558501/Arsenal-News-Carl-Jenkinson-West-Ham-transfers).

The former Charlton youth standout spent the 2014/15 season on loan with the Hammers and gave a very strong account of himself with a number of impressive performances.

Slaven Bilic renewed the loan deal for the 2015/16 season but Jenkinson’s form was not of the level of the season prior, but the Hammers had to cut his season-long loan short last season after the England international suffered a torn ACL in the 2-2 home draw against Manchester City in January.

That injury kept the 24-year-old out until last week when he returned to play the full 90 minutes in Arsenal’s EFL Cup win over Reading, and Jenkinson also started for the Gunners last night against Ludogorets in the Champions League.

A West Ham source told the Daily Star that if Jenkinson had not got injured whilst on loan with the club, then they would’ve tried to sign the right-back on a permanent basis.

> Carl’s injury was a real shame. He was doing well at the club and we liked him. Would we have tried to sign him? Probably.

Firmly cemented behind Hector Bellerin at the Emirates, Jenkinson doesn’t appear to be close to usurping the Spaniard anytime soon, so he may have to consider his future in January if he wants to play every week.

West Ham are believed to be interested in re-signing the defender if the right deal presents itself.
