After a successful September, which resulted in five victories and a draw, there are a lot of contenders for Player of the Month from the Arsenal ranks.
Top performances from all areas of the pitch has made for great competition, which in turn has led to the whole squad upping their game.
I have managed to narrow the choice down to five players, have a read through then vote at the bottom for the player you think was Arsenal’s best in September.
Laurent Koscielny
A crucial goal against Southampton supplemented robust defensive performances, meaning the club captain is a strong contender for Player of the Month. His relationship with Shkodran Mustafi is already solid and will only continue to develop.
Granit Xhaka
Two long-range strikes to add to all round performances in the middle of the park reflect a great debut month for Granit after he was left out for much of August. An 88% pass completion rate and, according to WhoScored, one of the top tacklers in the side, he is proving to be the perfect holding midfielder – with a rocket of a left foot.
Alexis Sanchez
Many people doubted if Alexis could handle playing up front on his own, but he has excelled in the role. Goals against Hull City, PSG and Chelsea followed by assists against Basel shows how he has perfectly taken up the forward position in Arsene’s new, fluid 4-3-3.
Theo Walcott
Isn’t this a surprise!? Many were lamenting Joel Campbell’s loan while Theo stayed at the club, but a newfound attitude has resulted in goals, assists and strong all round performances galore – he no longer goes missing in games. Goals against Basel, Hull, and Chelsea show that he is capable of delivering in all types of games.
Alex Iwobi
Following on from his form from last season, Iwobi has continued to be a revelation on the left wing, picking up assists against Hull and PSG, as well as proving to be the ‘link man’ for many flowing moves. As said in my tactical analysis, Iwobi’s role cutting in from the left is crucial as Arsenal look to pull defences apart.
So, who was the best of these five. Let us know by voting below:
