The news will come as a blow to Arsenal, who have been somewhat bullied in this summers transfer market. The Gunners also missed out on Mahrez’s teammate Jamie Vardy earlier this summer.
Leicester City and Arsenal meet at the King Power stadium on Saturday in the late kick off. Both sides will be looking to improve on their Premier League opening weekend defeats at the hands of Hull City and Liverpool respectively.

Arsene Wenger has yet to follow-up the transfer of Granit Xhaka with any quality additions, reflected in Sunday’s performance at the Emirates. Defensive frailties were exposed by an efficient performance from Klopp’s men as Arsenal have struggled to get a deal over the line for Valencia’s Shkodran Mustafi this past week.
Having now missed out on Mahrez, the pressure will mount on the boss as the close of the transfer window is a mere two weeks away.
