After yesterday’s 3-2 victory over Manchester City with Theo Walcott, Chuba Akpom and Alex Iwobi getting on the score sheet, the shocking injury to Brazilian centre-half Gabriel, caught most of the attention, as Arsene Wenger must now address his injury crisis.
Due to the lack of depth in Arsenal’s defence, Arsenal have highlighted German defender, Lukas Klostermann, according to Bild (h/t the Express). The 20-year-old is currently participating in the Rio Olympics with Germany, alongside possible future teammate, Serge Gnabry.

Klostermann currently plays for newly promoted Bundesliga side, RB Leipzig. He made 43 appearances for the German side in Bundesliga 2 last season and was essential in last year’s push for promotion after joining the club in 2014.
Arsene Wenger is attracted to his strength, speed and versatility, as the young German can play in several positions across the back line. Bild report that the North Londoners have made it clear to Leipzig that they want their man and are not reluctant to pay.
Wenger is adamant that Arsenal bring in a defender, after injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel. Arsenal will now be without two first-team defenders for a good amount of time, leaving Wenger with very few options for Arsenal’s first game against Liverpool.

As every other transfer window where Arsenal are linked to every player imaginable, many reports are suggesting fellow German defender Shkodran Mustafi could be a possibility and is willing to join the red side of North London. Either way, Arsenal need a new defender, and quickly.
