Arsenal played their final pre-season game against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.
The Gunners have enjoyed a good pre-season so far and will want to finish on a high. Against Viking FK, Arsenal looked very sharp, scoring eight goals against the Norwegian team.
Albeit still early, new signings, Rob Holding and Granit Xhaka have looked very good. Against, Manchester City, however, Arsenal faced their toughest test so far, which gave a good indication of how far they have progressed in terms of match fitness and development.
Arsenal looked good initially in the first-half and arguably should’ve had two goals – Oxlade-Chamberlain’s chip went wide of the post, while Coquelin had his shot blocked.
Although City were the lesser of the two teams, they were the ones to score first following an excellent ball from Sterling to Aguero, who tapped it in.
The second-half saw Arsenal play much better. The Gunners’ have had two more pre-season games than City, and it showed. Alex Iwobi leveled the game after a clever pass from Walcott, while it was Walcott who scored Arsenal’s second after receiving a great pass from Sanchez. Chuba Akpom tapped home the third, while City did respond with a second goal to leave it 3-2 to Arsenal.
So, with Arsenal winning 3-2, let’s have a look at the individual player ratings.
