A lot of buzz has been surrounding Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez, the Algerian international winger who won the PFA Player of the Year Award in the Premier League last season, and a potential transfer option for Arsenal. Many Arsenal fans have been rejoicing over the possibility, with an earned skepticism regarding the legitimacy of reports.
That hasn’t stopped some fans from some wild and joyful speculation:
Twitter: Mahrez to Arsenal is done ..He will wear the number 26 number … This is how confident I am ????? #Arsenal #Mahrez https://t.co/btCwLahew3 (@AsadBalal)
Of course, this same guy later tweeted this:
Twitter: Can safely say I won’t be going to any Arsenal matches this year if we don’t sign any top players … Gonna give away 2 season tickets !!! (@AsadBalal)
Gooner hearts and minds are racing with the possibility of the 17 goals and 11 assists Mahrez notched last year moving to the right wing at the Emirates.
But is this really the best signing for Arsene Wenger right now? Sure, he’d provide, on paper, boatloads of talent and potential and would supposedly seamlessly fit into that right wing spot which has been up for grabs for a couple seasons now.
But here are four questions that reveal it may not be the best move for the Gunners to make at the moment.
