Today, Arsenal announced the signing of young defender Rob Holding from Bolton Wanderers to a ‘long-term’ deal for an undisclosed fee, reportedly around two million pounds.
Holding has spent the last 13 years with his boyhood club and made his first-team debut for Bolton this past season, whilst scoring his first senior goal against MK Dons in January. He also played with Arsenal man Calum Chambers this summer at the Toulon Tournament – which England won.
It may not be the signing that Gunners fans have been pleading for this summer – it’s not a first-choice striker or world-class central defender – but that should not make this a bad signing for any reason whatsoever. In fact, there are lots of positives to look at when evaluating this transfer that may not pop up at first glance.
Here’s three positives to take away from today’s signing of Arsenal’s new #16.
