After a disappointing camapiagn with his national team, the 34-year-old ‘keeper will now put all his efforts into competing with Arsenal, as he told Arsenal.com.

This is a purely football-based decision. If I want to prolong my career and play at the highest level for as long as I can, then I will probably need to find the balance so that I can continue to do so.

The Czech Repuublic did not have a good tournament as they failed to qualify for the knockouut stages, having only gained one point from three games.

Petr Cech made his debut in 2002, and has since been a constant presence in the Czech team. He has amasssed 124 national appearances for the national side, and is arguably one of the best products to come out of the country.

His international career has not been littered with multiple successes, he did however help the Czech Republic reach the semi-final of Euro 2004, a game which they lost to eventual winners Greece.
