Arsenal have been linked in the past week with the possible transfer of French forward, Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon as they continue their search for a striker this summer. Various different media outlets have indicated that Lacazette is now Wenger’s top priority after missing out on Jamie Vardy earlier this month.
It was reported that Arsene Wenger was set to meet with the Lyon striker’s representatives over the next week, but there has been nothing concrete to those reports. Though the speculation has picked up again in the past few days as Wenger was asked about the situation on French TV. He quoted the following when talking to Canal + Sport, ‘I neither confirm nor deny interest’ and then went on to say ‘if I say I like the player it starts speculation’.

Lacazette would not go on the cheap, as Lyon would want around £45 million for their star man. Arsenal have got to be act quickly if they want the striker, as other French giants Paris Saint Germain have registered an interest in the forward.
After another impressive season with Lyon, bagging 23 goals in 46 appearances, it is a massive surprise that Lacazette is not part of the France squad that is currently at Euro 2016. The 25-year-old would fit in pretty well to Arsenal’s style of play, and could offer a complete different outlet to what his fellow countryman Olivier Giroud offers. His frightening pace would frighten defences in the Premier League, partnered by his fantastic finishing, which makes Lacazette one of the hottest prospects in Europe.

The Gunners have been linked with Lacazette for a couple of seasons now, and it is clear that he is a player who Wenger is very keen on. Though having already lost out on one of his main targets this summer in Vardy, if Arsenal are really keen on Lacazette then they must make sure they seal the deal quickly this time. Otherwise disappointment awaits once more.
Elsewhere, Napoli forward Gonzalo Higuain has reportedly turned down a new contract from the Italian club, fueling more speculation on the Argentine’s future who is a target for Arsenal.
