Arsenal’s hunt for a striker continues. The Jamie Vardy saga is over, Michy Batshuayi has signed with Chelsea and all Arsenal have to show for it, is the 21-year-old, Takuma Asano.
It was initially thought that the asking price for Alvaro Morata – valued at £57 million by Real Madrid – was too expensive for Arsenal, however James Olley of the Evening Standard, has reported that Arsenal will battle with Chelsea for the Spaniard.

Real Madrid activated Morata’s £23 million release clause but are reportedly open to selling him to the highest bidder. Although, Morata is highly though of at Real Madrid, Karim Benzema is firmly entrenched as Madrid’s first-choice striker.
Morata scored three goals at the Euros as Spain’s starting striker and now believes he could lead the line for a top club. Due to Antonio Conte’s appointment as Chelsea manager, Morata has been heavily linked with a move to West London. Having signed Batshuayi however, it seems Chelsea will now not pay such a large fee for the Spanish international.

Arsenal are in desperate need of a striker and will try to lower Madrid’s asking price for Morata. The north London club has also been linked with Alexandre Lacazette and Romelu Lukaku, with former being Arsenal’s preferred choice if Wenger cannot sign the Spaniard.
