This summer, Arsene Wenger has made it clear that he will attempt to bring in a new striker to compete with Oliver Giroud for the starting spot.
Now that the Vardy saga is over, rumours of Romelu Lukaku have surfaced, but now Steve Stammers of the Mirror has reported that Lyon striker, Alexandre Lacazette, is Arsenal’s new target.

The 25-year old-Frenchman could be just what the Gunners need as he is excellent in front of goal. Last season he scored 23 goals in 43 matches for Lyon. His addition would address an area of need the team has had for many years. His movement and goal scoring prowess would provide a great attacking threat, as well as competition for the number nine position.
Competition from West Ham and Atletico Madrid will make the deal more difficult; Atletico are willing to match Lyon’s price £45 million price tag, while West ham have had a £42 million bid rejected.

According to the report, Wenger sees Lacazette as the perfect target to improve the teams attacking options. Lyon having just sold Umtiti and are under no financial pressure to sell the striker, who still has three years left on his current contract.
