According to reports, United boss Jose Mourinho will make a surprise swoop for Aaron Ramsey if he is unable to bring Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Manchester.

The Bundesliga star is Manchester United’s primary target, but should their pursuit of the Armenian attacker prove unsuccessful, Ramsey is seen as an ideal alternative. Ramsey is two years younger than the 27 year-old Dortmund star and the two play play very similar styles of football. The most recent bid for Mkhitaryan was reportedly in the region of £28 million, however any deal for Ramsey will undoubtedly cost United no less than such an amount.
With competition for midfield places only increased by the arrival of Granit Xhaka, Ramsey could potentially be offered a more important role in Mourinho’s new-look United side. The Welshman is currently lighting up EURO 2016, but could be at the centre of this summer’s shock transfer if Dortmund refuse to let Mkhitaryan leave.

The bitter rivalry between the managers of the two Premier League clubs will heavily influence the possibility of any Ramsey transfer, and it is a guarantee Wenger will not being doing Mourinho any favours.
Ramsey will almost certainly be playing in red next season, but for which English giant is yet to be known.
