Arsenal could be set for a very busy transfer window this summer – hopefully. After a very disappointing season, a number of positions need to be filled. With the influx of new TV money, every Premier League club will be scouring Europe for the best talent, but there could be some valuable talent closer to home too.
Norwich and Newcastle’s demise was finally confirmed on Wednesday night. While Aston Villa have been relegated for a few weeks, Sunderland’s 3-0 win over Everton confirmed that both Newcastle, and Norwich will be playing in the Championship next season.
Due to this, both clubs will likely have to sell some of their best players to cope with the financial hit they will receive because of relegation. After years of frugal activity, Newcastle spent a reasonable amount both last summer and in January, in a bid to keep themselves in the Premier League. It is unclear whether Newcastle will be able to keep the likes of Georginio Wijnaldum, Jonjo Shelvey or Andros Townsend, as many clubs will likely be on the lookout for their signature. Aston Villa, however need to rebuild, starting with a big summer exodus; while Norwich could struggle to keep some of their best players.
With this considered, let’s have a look at the players Arsenal could and should sign from these three clubs.
