Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, recently linked with a transfer to Roma, has hit out at the press in a Facebook post that clarified the rumour of his departure.
The 26-year-old has been the starting goalkeeper for the Serie A giants, and his strong performances have helped the club move into contention for a return to the UEFA Champions League – with a particularly impressive display in a crunch clash with Napoli at the weekend, during which he made several excellent saves guiding his team to a 1-0 win that effectively ensured Roma’s place in Europe’s top club competition.
It was amidst that background that rumours began to swirl of a permanent move, but the Polish shot-stopper took to his Facebook page to pooh-pooh those reports, complete with appropriate emoji.

The post rapidly gained attention, with over 4,000 reactions – either “like,” “love,” or “haha” – within 25 minutes of publication.
Having spent several seasons as the first-choice goalkeeper at the Emirates, Szczesny saw a combination of on-field errors and off-field controversies see him lose his spot to David Ospina. The arrival of Petr Cech pushed him further down the pecking order, sparking the loan move for a player who is still young for his position.
