Arsenal coach confirmed to leave club this summer

Arsenal under-18s coach Frans de Kat will leave the club at the end of the season to take up a new role with the Dutch Football Academy, the European giants’ official website has confirmed.

De Kat has been at the north London side as the head coach of the under-18s since the summer of 2014, working alongside former Arsenal player and star Kwame Ampadu, whose son has recently been linked with a move to north London to work under his father’s tutelage.

The Dutchman has been an important figure at the club and was part of a youth academy shake-up which saw head of academy Andries Jonker also introduced.

De Kat will take up a role with the Dutch FA in the summer where he will coordinate the training academy of the nation’s up and coming talent.

The Dutchman confirmed that whilst he enjoyed working for Arsene Wenger’s club, he was interested in a return to working for his nation.

It’s likely that Ampadu will now take on the role himself, although it has yet to be confirmed.
