Central midfield is an area Arsenal do not lack when it comes to personnel. Francis Coquelin, Aaron Ramsey, Mohamed Elneny, Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla, Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini are all players who have played in the role so for the club and all of whom have their individual strengths and weaknesses. However, it is apparent that Arsene Wenger is still slightly unsure on who is his best midfield pairing.
With Arteta featuring less and less, it seems like Wenger does not have him in his plans for the future. However, the rest are still reasonably young, with the exception of Flamini, and equal in ability. Flamini will not be at Arsenal for much longer so it seems likely that the options are going to be between Cazorla, Ramsey, Wilshere, Coquelin and Elneny.
The January signing of Elneny has featured heavily already this season since his January arrival and seems to have established a decent partnership with Coquelin of late due to injuries to Cazorla and Ramsey.
With Wilshere returning after his most recent injury, Wenger is going to have an issue trying to fit all these players into his team, making it likely that good players are going to be benched and slightly irritated.
