Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny will return to the club in the summer to either fight for his place or secure a permanent transfer away from the club, after Roma revealed that they would not be signing the Poland international on a permanent deal.

The 25-year-old has started in almost every game for the Italian giants in their bid to win Serie A, and while they sit 10 points behind league leaders Juventus with eight games to go, it’s unlikely such a feat will occur.

In all competitions, Szczesny has made 34 appearances for Roma and conceded 44 goals along the way.

According to Football Insider via the Daily Star, Roma boss Luciano Spalletti has opted to bring in Allison from Brazilian side Internacional, leaving the door open for Szczesny to return to the Premier League.

With Petr Cech still the firm no.1 choice in between the sticks at the Emirates, it’s likely that Szczesny would either have to put up with a bench role or leave the club, with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool the reported suitors.
