Ospina picks up injury in Colombia win

According to the Evening Standard, Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina is an injury concern after he picked up a knock whilst playing for Colombia on Thursday evening.

Ospina played between the sticks for the South American side as they won 3-2 against Bolivia. However, whilst the score was at 2-2, the shot-stopper fell awkwardly after punching away a cross and appeared to pick up an injury.

The 27-year-old played the rest of the match but was visibly in pain. Ospina also picked up a knock to his body in his last match for Arsenal last weekend when he collided with Everton’s Romelu Lukaku, although he also continued after being down for some time.

Arsene Wenger has said that he is hopeful of first-choice goalkeeper Petr Cech returning to duty after the international break, which would certainly make any potential loss of Ospina far less damaging.

If the Arsenal goalkeeper is injured and not ready to play in his club side’s next match, along with Cech, then Arsenal would have to turn to Matt Macey. The academy product recently signed a new deal with the club and would be Wenger’s next choice.
