Five potential long-term Petr Cech replacements

The addition of Petr Cech has been an undoubted boost to the Gunners this season. Despite two costly slip-ups in his Premier League debut for Arsenal on the opening day against West Ham United, the Chelsea legend has redeemed himself several times over after a shocking first display. The Czech-international has produced game-saving performances in several important matches for Arsenal, with Liverpool and Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium as well as Stoke away providing prime examples of the 33-year-old’s importance to Arsenal this season.

Cech not only brings excellent shot stopping to the table but as four-time Premier League winner, and a pivotal piece of Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League winning side of 2012, Cech also brings a winning mentality and experience that Arsenal so severely lack. His leadership skills have also brought talk to him becoming Arsenal’s captain next year.

Although Petr Cech has brought an undoubted positive influence to Arsenal, he will be 34 years old by the time the 2016-17 season starts and reaching the latter stages of his career. If Arsene Wenger’s horrible experience trying to replace Jens Lehmann has taught him one thing, it’s that he should start planning now as to who Arsenal’s future no.1 should be.

Here are five potential long-term replacements for Cech that Wenger could consider.
