Player Ratings: Arsenal 1-2 Watford

After an impressive four-goal display from the Gunners midweek, the north London side came up against fellow Premier League team Watford on a sunny day at the Emirates Stadium in the FA Cup quarter-final.

Arsenal looked in control in the first half and would have been disappointed not to lead early on, following a disallowed goal by Olivier Giroud due to him being a fraction offside. Gabriel found himself lucky to be on a pitch after a dangerous tackle on Troy Deeney which really should have seen red. Despite a couple of dangerous counter attacks, Watford didn’t pose too much of a threat in the first half.

The second half kicked off and it seemed that the Arsenal defence were still in the changing rooms, as a lack of concentration from the defence led to a Watford goal from a simple throw-in, at the start of the half. Things would go from bad to worse for the Gunners, as Watford would double their following a wonder strike from Adlene Guedioura. Arsenal threw everything they had at Watford and managed to grab a late goal through Danny Welbeck, but were unable to overturn the two-goal deficit, meaning Watford came out 2-1 victors.

Three consecutive defeats at the Emirates for Arsenal, who are in poor form.
