# Guardiola eyes up City move for Oxlade-Chamberlain

According to a [report by Henry Winter of the *Times*](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/sport/football/article4708550.ece), Pep Guardiola is looking to sign Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain when he takes over as the new Manchester City manager this summer.

According to Winter, Guardiola would like play Raheem Sterling on the left while Oxlade-Chamberlain would be positioned on the right-hand side.

The Ox reportedly impressed Guardiola during Arsenal’s UEFA Champions League match against Bayern Munich in March 2014. In the game that ended 1-1, Oxlade-Chamberlin showed Guardiola that he can not only play on the wings but that he can be a force down the middle.

Guardiola will likely be given a great deal of money to invest this summer in order to revamp an ageing City squad and considering Arsenal are yet to pin down the England international to a new deal, Manchester City think that they can persuade him to sign for them.

Recent reports from the *[Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3481973/Alex-Oxlade-Chamberlain-not-leave-Arsenal-London-club-looks-prove-Emirates.html)* suggest that it seems unlikely Oxlade-Chamberlain would make a switch to another London club, which leaves the door wide open for a transfer to Manchester.
