January signing Mohamed Elneny has thanked his manager, Arsene Wenger, for giving him the opportunity to show his quality in the North London Derby against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend, as per the London Evening Standard.
The Egyptian midfielder, who signed from Basel in January, was given his league debut against Manchester United in the 3-2 loss last month. Elneny was handed his first ever full Premier League start at the weekend, in which Arsenal held Spurs to a 2-2 draw.
The 23-year-old believes his performance has earned him the right to start more often, after many praised him for his very professional ninety minutes against Tottenham.

Arsene Wenger has confidence in my abilities and the abilities of all the players…we had a good game against a strong opponent.
I wanted to prove that I deserved a place in the starting line-up, and I think I earned my place today.

With Francis Coquelin suspended for the FA Cup fifth round replay against Hull City on Tuesday evening, it is likely that Elneny will keep his place in the starting XI, hoping to strengthen his bid for further regular first-team football in a red and white shirt.
