After two consecutive defeats in the league for Arsenal, the Gunners could not afford to lose a third if they still wanted to challenge for the title. Arsenal came up against fierce north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, in what was arguably the most important North London Derby to be played in years.
A frantic start to the match, Spurs had a great chance to open the scoring, but were excellently stopped by David Ospina. The complexion of the half would change after against the run of play, Arsenal took the lead following a magnificent flick from Aaron Ramsey. The Gunners had opportunities to double the lead, but they would squander their chances meaning they would go into the second half with a 1-0 lead.
Arsenal looked comfortable going into the second period, which would change when Francis Coquelin picked up his second yellow card of game, giving the visitors a real disadvantage. Spurs would exploit this opportunity and bag a quick-fire double with goals from Harry Kane and Toby Alderweireld putting them 2-1 up. With Arsenal’s title hopes hanging by a thread, Chilean superstar Alexis Sanchez popped up to slot the ball past Hugo Lloris, giving the Gunners an equaliser to make it 2-2.
The full-time whistle went and the game finished 2-2 in what was a good performance from the Gunners.
