# Oxlade-Chamberlain to miss at least five weeks

Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is to be ruled out until at least the end of April with a knee injury.

The England international limped off early in the second half of Arsenal’s 2-0 UEFA Champions League round of 16 loss to Barcelona, with the 22-year-old coming off worse in a collision with Javier Mascherano.

Arsene Wenger, speaking on Friday morning, confirmed that the Ox would undergo a test to meet with a specialist in order to determine the extent of the injury, and [according to the *Mail Online*](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3467329/Arsenal-star-Alex-Oxlade-Chamberlain-ruled-end-April-knee-injury-fit-England-s-Euro-2016-bid.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490), knee ligaments were damaged, leaving the England international sidelined for a minimum of five weeks, with the beginning of May likely the time period he’ll return to action.

The injury means that the Ox could return to play a key part in Arsenal’s title run-in, as well as gaining fitness ahead of selection for Roy Hodgson’s European Championship squad, which begins in France during mid-June.

If the ex-Southampton star can prove his fitness to the England selection team, he will likely make the squad, although missing out on international tournaments is something that Oxlade-Chamberlain has become familiar with, having missed out on the 2014 World Cup in Brazil through injury.
