Arsenal are believed to be amongst a number of clubs interested in a move for Schalke wonderkid Leroy Sane.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has been in impressive form for the German outfit this season and has, according to Mundo Deportivo, been placed upon Barcelona’s transfer wishlist, with the Gunners also expressing an interest in his services.
Sane has been a regular in Schalke’s first-team this campaign, scoring five goals and bagging four assists from 15 Bundesliga appearances.
Due to the nature of his performances for André Breitenreiter’s side, Sane’s price tag has risen to a reported £28.9m, with the La Liga giants favourites to acquire his signature.
Arsenal have a plethora of options to use on the wings, with the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Joel Campbell, Theo Walcott, Alexis Sanchez and Alex Iwobi all battling for starting positions in the side.
If Arsene Wenger’s side beat out Barcelona’s hopes of signing the player in the summer and Sane does arrive in north London, he could prove to be more of a long-term signing, rather than a solution for the current team.
