Arsenal and England striker Danny Welbeck has admitted that being injured for so long was difficult for him but now that he is back, and marked his return with a vital winning goal against Leicester City on Sunday afternoon, he is more than ready to kick-start his season again.
Prior to the top-of-the-league clash with Leicester, Welbeck had not played a competitive game for the Gunners in 10 months after being sidelined with injuries. He made his return for Arsenal against the league leaders with five minutes left to play in the game, but that didn’t stop him scoring the dramatic winner in the last seconds of the game.
After the game, Welbeck claimed, as reported by ESPN, that his first long-term injury has been incredibly tough for him and so by scoring in such important circumstances, it made his wait all the better.

It has been a bit of a roller coaster for me, obviously missing a lot of football. It’s the first time in my career that I’ve missed so much football in a period of time and it was a difficult moment. My family and friends were all here, they’ve known what I’ve been through. And to get that winning goal, it’s a beautiful feeling.
The Englishman moved on to suggest that despite missing a good opportunity late on, he was determined to make an impression on the game and was pleased to be able to score the winning goal.
We kept pushing right until the end, we got chance after chance.
I was a bit teed off that I didn’t score on the first opportunity that came to me, and I just tried to make amends. Thankfully we got the goal at the end.
