Gabriel a major doubt for Leicester clash

Brazilian defender Gabriel missed out on training on Saturday afternoon and could be out of contention for the Gunners’ vital clash with league leaders Leicester City on Sunday.

Gabriel, according to the Express, is suffering from a muscular injury.

The Brazilian stalwart has started in the previous three games, helping the Gunners to two clean sheets.

He was expected to start ahead of Per Mertesacker as his extra pace could have proved vital for the north London side, who will be facing the speedy duo of Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez.

With Gabriel out, the German vice-captain is now expected to make his first appearance since being sent-off against Chelsea three weeks ago.

The clash against Leicester is seen as a must win game for the Gunners. A win would push Arsenal to just two points behind the league leaders. In contrast, a loss would leave them eight points being the Foxes, arguably ending any realistic chance of winning the league title this year.
