Arsenal to open £51.5m contract talks with Alexis

Arsenal are set to open contract talks with superstar winger Alexis Sanchez, according to the Football Insider.

The reports claim that the Gunners want to tie the Chilean down to a five-year-contract, believed to be worth roughly £51.5m, which equates to a weekly wage of around £198,000-per-week, making him the club’s highest-paid player.

A number of sides have been rumoured to be interested in acquiring the 27-year-old’s services after his stunning first two campaigns with the club, in which he has thoroughly impressed and become a fans’ favourite.

Having had to make way for the trio of Neymar, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at Barcelona, Alexis joined Arsenal in the summer of 2014 for a fee believed to be roughly £35m and immediately made an impact, scoring the goal that secured the north London side’s progress to the UEFA Champions League group stages against Besiktas.
