# Welbeck could make return this week

Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck could return to action this week, as he bids to make his step up in a bid to play regular football for the club for the first this season.

The former Manchester United striker has not played a single minute of action for the Gunners since April, meaning he has been on the sidelines for a stunning nine months.

However, Arsene Wenger [revealed, as previously reported by the club’s official website, in his news conference last week](https://readarsenal.com/2016/02/01/wenger-reveals-injury-update-wilshere-welbeck-rosicky-ahead-saints-game/) that the striker is ready to make the step up in his bid to return, with Friday’s under-21 game against Brighton and Hove Albion a real possibility for him to see some action.

Welbeck has been in training as of late but with him not having first-team action for such a long period, it’s unlikely he will return this month.

As Tomas Rosicky did in January, it’s likely the England international will feature for around 45 minutes, with his return likely gradual.
