Arsenal have announced that Petr Cech has officially been named Vitality Player of the Month for January.
The Czech ‘keeper was in hugely impressive form in his first January as an Arsenal player and beat out competition from the likes of Olivier Giroud and Joel Campbell, who finished second and third respectively.
Cech winning the award means Mesut Ozil’s record of three straight months as winner has been broken, with the 33-year-old goalkeeper picking up his first ever Player of the Month award as an Arsenal player.

The ex-Chelsea goalkeeper was impressive in the Gunners’ games against Newcastle United and Stoke City, with January proving a difficult month in terms of picking up results. However, the Czech will no doubt have an even tougher February, with the likes of Manchester United, Leicester City and Barcelona to face, as well as the fifth round of the FA Cup to contend.
Cech won the award with 47.4% of the overall vote, while Giroud picked up 18.9% and Campbell 8.9%, with the other members of the team making up the remaining 24.8%.
