# Gibbs could leave on loan to Newcastle

Arsenal full-back Kieran Gibbs could be off to Newcastle[if reports in the *London Evening Standard*](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/newcastle-target-late-move-for-arsenal-leftback-kieran-gibbs-deadline-days-top-transfer-stories-a3169651.html) are to be believed.

The England left-back has lost a severe amount of playing time this season and last due to the intangible good form of teammate Nacho Monreal.

Gibbs’ left-back rival has been the Gunners’ most consistent player and doesn’t look like giving up his place in the side anytime soon.

With that said, the 26-year-old could be forced into leaving the club, at least on loan, in order to get some game time.

In a matter similar to that of Mathieu Debuchy, Gibbs has one eye on the European Championship in France next summer and is under no illusions that his place is far from secure.

With Newcastle United light in defence and needing some solidity at the back, they could look to Gibbs to solve their issues.

Whether the defender, who has been at the Gunners since signing from Wimbledon in his academy days, would be interested in a move to get some game time is another story.
