# Debuchy in talks with Aston Villa

Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy is in talks with Aston Villa over joining the club on a loan move until the end of the current campaign, [as per the *Mirror Online*](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/arsenal-right-back-mathieu-debuchy-7272601?).

Debuchy, who has previously expressed a desire to leave the Gunners, could join the bottom of the Premier League side in a bid to add some form of Premier League experience and expertise to their ranks, as they attempt to stay in the top division of English football for another season.

If Remi Garde’s side hope to sign the 30-year-old Frenchman, they will have to pay Arsenal a fee of £1.5m and pay 100% of his £60,000-per-week wages.

Debuchy is hoping to leave the club before the end of the January transfer window, which concludes on Monday, in order to regain match fitness and strengthen his late bid to be included in the France squad for the European Championship this summer.

The likes of Roma, Sunderland and West Ham have all also been interested in the right-back, but the fee to take him on loan has proven a stumbling block the clubs are unwilling to overcome.
