Arsenal send scouts to watch USMNT defender Miazga

Arsenal are one of a number of Premier League clubs to have sent scouts to watch New York Red Bulls defender Matt Miazga.

According to the Mail Online, the Gunners watched the 20-year-old central defender play for the American side, with a view to potentially bringing him to the Premier League.

The defender, who possesses a Polish passport and would therefore not require a work permit if he were to join an English side, could make the move before the end of the January transfer window, which will close on Monday evening.

Despite being the tender age of 20, Miazga has featured a number of times for the Red Bulls and was recently given his debut for the USMNT by Jurgen Klinsmann.

Speaking on playing in the Premier League, the defender admitted it was an ‘intriguing’ prospect.

The English Premier League is a very intriguing proposition for me. There is a lot of passion involved; hopefully one day I will have the opportunity to play there.

It’s believed that ten Premier League sides sent scouts to watch Miazga play for his side, including all of Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea.
