# Wenger – Alexis’ energy caught my eye

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has claimed that Alexis Sanchez is an ‘eye-catching’ player.

The Chilean winger has made a huge impression on not only supporters but also pundits because of his hard working nature, as well as on the ball ability.

Alexis signed for Arsenal in the summer of 2014 from Barcelona for a fee [believed to be in the region of £35m](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28177987) and has since gone on to become a key member of the squad, scoring a stunning effort in the FA Cup final and winning the trophy in his first season with the club.

Despite having signed for the club from Barcelona, it was at previous club Udinese that Alexis first caught the attention of Wenger – with the Frenchman claiming to Arsenal Soundcloud, [as reported by the club’s official website](https://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/20160126/-alexis-energy-levels-hit-you-in-face-?), that the 27-year-old’s energy stuck out.

> *It was playing for Udinese \[that I first spotted him\].*

> *He was very dynamic, very direct and very straight to the point.*
>
> *He was one of these players where his energy and the intensity of his energy level hits you straight in the face.*
>
> *It is strange because he catches your eye with his energy and level of commitment he puts into everything he does and that is what remained with me.*

Alexis made his comeback from injury last weekend in the 1-0 loss to Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium and is expected to play some part in the FA Cup fourth round tie against Burnley this weekend.

The forward will likely have been doing some [endurance training](https://www.maxinutrition.com/sports/football/football-endurance-guide) to get his fitness levels back up to speed, and some competitive action will only serve him well as he looks to get fit and firing for Arsenal’s Premier League title challenge.
