Arsenal legend and former captain Thierry Henry believes that Olivier Giroud can lead the club to the Premier League title.
The Gunners face their best opportunity in over 10 years to win England’s top division, with Giroud being the spearhead of the thus far stunning and clinical Arsenal attack.
The Frenchman has scored 12 goals in the Premier League for Arsenal this campaign and despite starting the campaign on the bench, with Theo Walcott the main man up top, Giroud has been impressive in his all-round game.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ on Friday afternoon, the World Cup winning centre forward admitted that he believes the Gunners can win the Premier League with Giroud as the main striker.
Giroud has been consistent where he wasn’t in his first season.
We all know he can finish but this year he has been consistent and finally he is showing he can lead Arsenal to the title.
He has been criticised when he wasn’t performing so you now have to give the guy credit, he is finally playing well.
Arsenal face Chelsea on Sunday afternoon at the Emirates Stadium in what will be a game where the home side can extend their lead at the top of the table.
Henry believes there is no better time to face Chelsea.
What better chance will Arsenal have to play against the wounded Premier League champions, at home, and make a statement that they are in for the title?
Despite that, I feel this game could deliver a mixed message because Chelsea are not performing at the moment.
If Arsenal go and hammer Chelsea people will attribute that to Chelsea’s poor form. However, if Arsenal win a tight game people will say they suffered against Chelsea. We will see on Sunday what they can do.
Let’s not forget that Arsenal have a great record against Chelsea when Jose Mourinho is not the coach, they usually enjoy those games.
