# Jenkinson to make Arsenal return next summer

Arsenal right-back Carl Jenkinson, currently out on loan at West Ham, is set to return to the Gunners next season after Hammers boss Slaven Bilic confirmed that he would not be pursuing the defender, according to [reports in the *Telegraph*.](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/arsenal/12111116/Arsenal-transfer-news-and-rumours-Arsene-Wenger-wants-Odion-Ighalo-live.html)

Jenkinson’s return to the Emirates has been reportedly anticipated for a long time, as Bilic was informed by Arsenal that they would be keen to have the 23-year-old back in their squad ahead of the 2016/17 Premier League campaign.

This season is Jenkinson’s second spell at the Boleyn Ground after he impressed many with his performances last season, leading West Ham to enquire about his availability heading into the new campaign, only for the Gunners to accept another loan offer for the defender.

Despite moving to West Ham only last summer, just before his move, Jenkinson[signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3159482/Carl-Jenkinson-agrees-new-five-year-deal-Arsenal-English-defender-return-West-Ham-season-long-loan.html)that would keep him at the club for a further five years, but it was clear that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was keen to give the England international more Premier League experience in order for him to return to his club as a better player.

Jenkinson has made a fairly underwhelming 12 Premier League starts for the Hammers so far this campaign under Bilic, but has managed to find the net twice.
