Wenger – Why Giroud is no longer underrated

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has claimed that people no longer underestimate the abilities of his striker, Olivier Giroud. The 29-year-old scored twice against Liverpool in this week’s 3-3 draw and Wenger believes that the Frenchman will earn the merit that he deserves in due time.

Speaking ahead of his side’s clash with Stoke City this weekend, as reported by the club’s official website, the seasoned manager believes that his striker has already shown that he is more than capable of playing at the top-level and that if there is anybody who doubts him, they won’t be for much longer.

Not in my opinion. If that exists, it will not last, because people never deny evidence. If he continues to develop as a player and continues to score goals, he will be rated like he deserves to be. I don’t know one player in my whole life who has been underrated for his whole career.

Giroud is currently having one if his best seasons at Arsenal, having racked up 18 goals in 30 appearances in all competitions, only three goals off of his best with the club. It comes as no surprise then that with the Frenchman in such good form, the Gunners have been performing equally admirably; challenging for their first Barclays Premier League title in over a decade.

There is no doubt that if the Gunners wish to carry on their impressive form and win the league title, Giroud will play a big part in their success.
