Chambers explains why Arsenal want to break records

Arsenal defender Calum Chambers has been discussing the FA Cup ahead of this weekend’s third round tie with Sunderland.

The Gunners have won the competition for two consecutive seasons and have the opportunity to win it for a third when they begin their defence of the title this Saturday.

No team has done so since 1886, however, Chambers is confident the north London club will be able to do it, as well as triumphing in other cup competitions. Chambers is confident the north London club will be able to do it, as well as triumphing in other cup competitions.

I think for every Englishman it is a very memorable cup.

It gives that edge to it so you want to win it even more.

It would be an amazing achievement [to win it for the third time in a row] and I’m sure everyone will be everything to get there. I wouldn’t say we are discussing it but we are thinking about it. Anything in the cup can happen, it is not always straightforward.

You have to have both short-range and long-range goals. A long-range goal would be to break records, win trophies and do well, so I think everyone strives for that.

Arsenal are currently in pole position in the Premier League, with their fantastic early season form enabling them to have their first genuine battle for England’s top division in over 10 seasons.

Chambers is likely to start for the Gunners this weekend, with squad rotation expected to take place because of the trip to Anfield midweek, where Arsenal take on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side, who are currently struggling for consistency in the league.
