Arsenal open contract talks with Campbell
Arsenal are reportedly set to offer promising winger Joel Campbell a new deal at the club, with ith the Costa Rica international enjoying a successful spell in the Gunners’ side so far this season.
Wayne Veysey of Football Insider believes the south American could earn up to £60,000-a-week.
It is safe to say that Campbell has capitalised on his previously rare opportunities in the Arsenal side after injuries to attacking players such as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez have enabled the winger a chance to impress Arsene Wenger; he’s duly delivered.
In November, Campbell was questioned regarding his future at the Emirates and whether a loan deal or a move away from the club was in the offing, however, the 23-year-old reiterated his happiness at the club and has been delighted to receive the amount of opportunities he has been getting recently.
I’m an Arsenal player and I’m very happy here. I’m fighting to achieve my aims and hope to stay here for a long time.
Although Campbell signed a new deal just 12 months ago that was due to take him through to the summer of 2018, Wenger has seemingly attempted to offer the Costa Rican an extended deal, due to interest from the likes of Galatasaray, as well as other European sides.
