Pep Guardiola has recently confirmed his intentions of joining a team in the Premier League, with the hope of testing his abilities in what is believed to be the toughest division in world football.

Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been strongly linked to the Spaniard, with Arsenal being said to have an outside chance of landing him. The fact Arsene Wenger has another year left on his contract at the season’s end throws doubt at the links to the Gunners.

A proven track record with both Barcelona and Bayern Munich, Pep has won many trophies at the two clubs. The style of play from his teams can be mesmerising and dominant both domestically and on the European front.
There’s no doubt his style would suit Arsenal perfectly but the length of time he spends at each club is worrying considering it’s vast difference to to Wenger’s at Arsenal. He was quick to imply he prefers a new challenge while he’s young and if he comes to England to manage, would he stay beyond his contract to build a team to dominate for years under his guidance?

Many Arsenal fans would like to see a change in management at the club but if they look at other side’s that seem to have a bottomless pit of money at their disposal, then they realise the grass isn’t always greener. Manchester United haven’t been able to replicate the success they enjoyed under Sir Alex Ferguson despite what they have in Louis van Gaal – an extremely experienced, title-winning manager that has also spent the guts of £250m in a year and a half. Chelsea have been through many managers since Roman Abramovich purchased the club with a tiny about of his billions. Even Jose Mourinho, who brought massive success to the club, was sacked twice by the Russian billionaire.
Guardiola has walked into two already great, dominant teams and slightly tinkered with additions to the squads but brought his philosophy and had great success along the way. Could he do that in England, where there is no dominant team in the league anymore,? Coming to the Premier League will be tough for Guardiola and it would be good to see him at Arsenal but if he only stayed for 3-4 years would that be enough for Arsenal fans, given the track record of their rivals with managers?
It seems unlikely, however, many Gunners supporters have already expressed their desire to see him brought into the club.
