Ozil picks up two December awards
Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has picked up two awards for his stunning month of December.
The German was named Arsenal Vitality Player of the Month for the third consecutive month, as well as picking up the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month for the entirety of the Premier League.
The PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award makes it back-to-back triumphs for the 27-year-old, whose season is going from strength to strength.
A fantastic month for Ozil was defined by picking up a goal and a stunning five assists, as he scored once against Bournemouth, picked up assists against them, Sunderland, Aston Villa and two in a stunning performance against Manchester City.
Ozil beat competition in the form of Olivier Giroud and Petr Cech, who finished second and third respectively, to win the Arsenal award, while Riyad Mahrez and Odion Ighalo finished behind him in the running for the league award.
The German midfielder now sits on 16 Premier League assists, only four behind Thierry Henry’s all-time record.
