Arsene Wenger is readying a shock £20million move for Watford captain Troy Deeney, according to David Woods of the Daily Star.
The Arsenal boss has outlined his intentions of being ‘busy’ in January to boost the Gunners title bid and is set kickstart things by completing the transfer of Mohamed Elneny.
Wenger also wants to beef up his attacking options and is reportedly looking at Deeney as the ideal, ready-made Premier League striker to fill the gap.

Deeney is unlikely to be prised away on the cheap, having signed a new contract in the summer on a long-term five-year contract.
As well as being captain of the Hornets, Deeney is a key cog in Quique Sánchez Flores’ side either alongside or just behind Odion Ighalo.
The pair have outperformed Watford fans’ expectations to help take the Hertfordshire side to ninth in the table in their first season back in the top-flight.

Deeney has scored six and assisted five whilst Nigerian Ighalo has scored 14 goals, laying on two.
Recently, Deeney commented on speculation of his strike partner, saying it would be stupid to let him leave.
The value of selling Odion for, what would he be worth? £20m, £25m.
Or staying up and getting £200m? Simple business maths, he’s not going to sell him.
But it could be him that is on his way out of Vicarage Road if Wenger pulls a deal off.
At 27-years-old, a move to neighbours Arsenal may be his only shot at a big move to a title challenging team.
