Wenger all but confirms Elneny transfer

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has all but revealed Mohamed Elneny is set to join the club in the January transfer window.

Speaking on the reports linking Elneny with a move to north London, the Frenchman claimed that he can’t say anything about the move until a deal is concluded.

Unfortunately we cannot announce anything at the moment about this player [Elneny] because nothing has been concluded.

Speaking generally about transfers, Wenger claimed that he will be busy in the January transfer market, although, reports suggest that the experienced Gunners boss is willing to only sign Elneny in January.

I’ll be busy, that’s for sure.I am already busy and I said already one month ago we are a bit short to deal with all the competitions we face, especially in midfield. We will be busy, yes.

Unless a top quality option becomes available to the Gunners, however unlikely that may be.

Arsenal could confirm the transfer of Elneny to the Emirates Stadium in the coming days, with the January transfer window opening on Saturday morning.

Whether or not Arsene Wenger has his eyes on further squad depth is yet to be seen, although supporters have expressed their want to see another central defender signed as cover for all of Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny and the impressive Gabriel.

matchday.
