# James claims Cech is ‘worthy’ of clean sheet record

Former England goalkeeper and Premier League great David James believes that Petr Cech is ‘well worthy’ of the all-time clean sheet record.

The experienced Czech broke the record of 169 Premier League clean sheets – previously held by James – on Monday afternoon in the 2-0 victory over Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium.

Since joining the Gunners in the summer for a fee of roughly £10m, Cech has gone from strength to strength and is proving himself to still be useful, despite his age of 33.

[According to the ex-Portsmouth star](https://talksport.com/football/exclusive-petr-cech-well-worthy-new-premier-league-record-says-former-holder-david-james), Cech is an ‘exceptional’ goalkeeper.

> *Petr Cech is exceptional.*

> *He’s quite a remarkable man and. He’s very focussed a little bit obsessive and wants to be the best at everything, which is a good quality to have.*
>
> *His record is nearly a clean sheet every two games, which is quite remarkable considering he’s been doing that now for 11 years in the Premier League.*

With potentially many years left of his playing career, Cech will look to increase the record as much as he can with Arsenal.

The ex-Chelsea star could also go on to win the Premier League for the fifth time in his long career, a record which would certainly put him amongst the highest rated goalkeepers in the league’s history, if he is not already.
