Five things you need to know about Mohamed Elneny

Mohamed Elneny will become the first outfield signing of the season, if and when the midfielder completes a £5 million move in the next couple of days.

The 23-year-old is set to sign a £60,000-a-week four-and-a-half year deal from Swiss side FC Basel.

It is a typical Arsene Wenger purchase, with the player being a relative unknown, cheap and young with room for development.

Crucially, he will provide cover for a desperate area of the field which the Gunners are light of options in.

The Egyptian reportedly underwent a medical on Tuesday ahead of the move which will be confirmed once the transfer window opens on 1st January. To understand more about the who Elneny is, here are five things that you may not, but need to know about him.
